Committee Objective

Computer and language technology plays an ever increasing role in the translation industry, for both individual translators and language services agencies. The Translation and Computers Committee was established to provide ATA members current information in the use of computers in translation and related areas.

The Translation and Interpreting Resources Committee is asked to do the following:
  • collect and disseminate information concerning the use of computers in translation and interpreting;
  • organize and sponsor technical sessions at the ATA Annual Conference;
  • promote technical standards used in translation and language technology (e.g., TMX, TBX, XLIFF, etc.);
  • recommend and review proposed technology articles for The ATA Chronicle; and
  • collaborate with other organizations, including international groups, in addressing technology involved in translation and allied industries, such as localization.
