About the American Translators Association
Translation and Computers Committee
Committee Objective
Computer technology has taken on an increasingly important role in the translation industry, for both individual translators and language services agencies. The Translation and Computers Committee was established to provide ATA members current information in the use of computers in translation and related areas.
The Translation and Computers Committee is asked to do the following:
- collect and disseminate information concerning the use of computers in translation;
- organize and sponsor technical sessions at the ATA Annual Conference, including a Translation Tools Forum;
- promote technical standards for terminology software (e.g., TMX, TBX, XLIFF, etc.);
- recommend and review proposed technology articles for The ATA Chronicle; and
- collaborate with other organizations, including international groups, in addressing technology involved in localization.
